In the first week of NoFap, your brain has had little time to heal, so it’s essentially still the brain of an addict.
I usually say it’s important to chill during the first week, and not be hard on yourself, because PMO* has been your go-to method of reducing stress, so if you’re too stressed. perhaps from giving yourself ultimatums or threatening yourself with doom, you’ll have to release that stress. As your brain knows a very quick, easy, reliable, and pleasurable way to do that.
Instead of fapping to manage stress, rely on healthy methods of stress-reduction such as exercise, going for a walk, journaling, NTP journaling, and meditation.
Over time, your brain will gradually adapt to using healthy methods of stress reduction, as long as you consistently practice them. The more you rely on them, the more natural they will become.
Eventually, your brain will start to turn to these healthy strategies automatically, helping you manage stress in a much better way.
